Barn Bag Hay and Pasture Balancer

Barn Bag®
Pleasure and Performance Horse

Hay and Pasture Balancer

Barn Bag® is a low calorie and low starch equine supplement that provides the horse a daily fixed amount of important vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids. Barn Bag® fortifies the natural forage diet by providing these essential nutrients that the diet is often lacking. The pelleted concentrated nutrient source increases the feed utilization of hay and pasture to provide a balanced diet.

*Hard keepers may require an additional calorie source in order to gain or maintain weight. Whole oats, beet pulp, or vegetable oil are good options. Measuring cup not included in 11 lb bag.

Feeding Your Horse

For Low Activity, Easy Keepers, Obesity, Injury Lay-Up, Metabolic Syndrome, or Insulin Resistant Horses:

Reduce starch and caloric intake by eliminating all other feeds except hay, pasture, free choice white salt and Barn Bag®.

For hard keepers and working horses:

An additional source of calorie intake, if needed to maintain body condition, can be provided by feeding whole oats, beet pulp, copra and/or vegetable oil.

Benefits of Feeding Whole Oats

  • Oats are highly digestible, palatable, often locally grown, and are typically less expensive than compound all-in-one feeds.
  • Whole oats are not as messy as sweet feeds, leaving cleaner feed buckets and minimal fly attraction.
  • Feeding whole oats requires the horse to chew and salivate, helping maintain dental health, improve feed digestibility, and reduce the incidence of gastric ulcers.
  • With Barn Bag®, most horses will consume less oats than a typical all-in-one feed, resulting in less waste clean up, reduced odor, fewer flies, and fewer trips to dispose of soiled bedding.
