Hoof X-ray before and after using Farrier's Formula®

Thoma

“My now 19-year-old Welsh Cob gelding suffered recurring attacks of laminitis over a two-year period.  We only managed to control this temporarily.  In the first and worst flare-up, there was a strong rotation of the coffin bone on the left front hoof.  X-rays showed that the coffin bone was about to break through the sole area.

During this acute phase, he was confined to his box on a soft deep bed of straw while injections of painkillers/anti-inflammatories and heparin were administered twice daily.  Because he received an oral painkiller, Matacam, I also gave him Sucrabest to protect the lining of his stomach.

In order to slow the progression of further damage, it was important that he received as little exercise as possible and painkillers were given to avoid unwanted overloading and a possible re-rotation of the coffin bone.

With the help of X-rays, we were able to work on the hooves in such a way that we managed a physiological repositioning of the coffin bone in the capsule again.  We then fitted him with padded hoof boots and could lead him by hand on short walks.

A subsequent blood test showed that my horse has ECS/Cushing’s. Since then he has been receiving appropriate treatment and we have adapted and balanced his feeding regime.

After this diagnosis, he has regularly received Farriers Formula Double Strength and Barn Bag from the Company, Life Data Labs which has provided him with the best possible hoof horn quality.

Thankfully, we have been able to restore the physiological position of the coffin bone.  He is ready to perform again and is ridden in all three gaits.”
