“This is Bobby, an 8-year-old cob. I have had him since he was a foal and never had any problems with his feet until the winter of 2023. He lives out in the daytime and comes in every night, he loves his bed . He doesn’t need much hard feed as he is a good doer.
Around November time, the tip of his frog
came off when I was picking his feet out one day. There was a lot of blood. The first concern was thrush. I tried every potion under the sun to get it under control, but as the months went by and spring arrived, the concerns turned to laminitis. Another winter passed, and he still wasn’t right. Then one day, an abscess burst out of the coronet band, and he gradually became sound. Maybe something like a thorn had gotten in there and caused an abscess?
